Saadiyat Hotel

Abu Dhabi

2011

This five-star hotel is a G+5, 19,000-square-metre landmark within a prestigious TDIC masterplan in Abu Dhabi. The building is conceived as a deconstructed box, where two opposing corners are lifted to create a dramatic entrance and frame panoramic views for the signature rooftop restaurant. The volumes are further carved and shifted to introduce visual transparency, allowing guests to experience layered views through the building and toward key landmarks such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi and surrounding cultural icons.

At the heart of the composition, a central “cube within a cube” houses the hotel’s main amenity spaces, creating a strong spatial and visual anchor. This interplay of solid and void transforms the structure into a sculptural form that feels simultaneously grounded and light. The result is an architecture that celebrates its setting, responding sensitively to context while asserting its own distinct identity within Abu Dhabi’s cultural landscape.
